World for All; Dogs cure depression. Adopt one.

As you may have noticed, this blog is about ‘ads.’
Great ads can get the adrenaline flowing.
I would like to introduce some fun ads here, especially the print ads.
As a start, I brought an ad from World for All, which is a non-profit organization in India.
Ogilvy & Mather, Mumbai was the advertising agency.

Well, what do you think?

Actually, these ads are trying to show how dogs can comfort people
and exhorting us to adopt one.
As you can see, a guy in the first picture makes an attempt to throw himself in front of a train,
the next one tries to jump off from a building, and the last one nearly hangs himself.
Likewise, severe depression may drive people to attempt suicide.
However, things would be different if you had a dog.
In fact, the small creature has tremendous power.
Anyone who has ever kept a pet will feel sympathy.

The copy says, ‘Dogs cure depression. Adopt one.’
There is a significant visual impact.
Plus, the ink drawing creates a feeling of warmth with effect.
It definitely has an emotional appeal.

The expression is not that threatening since it is telling its story indirectly.
Also, by telling that adopting a dog is good for both you and the dog,
it is quite different from other advertisements.
Generally, ads which bolster adoption program appeal that you can help and save them by adoption. Nevertheless, this ad says inversely; dogs are able to help and save you.
It is truly a brilliant ad with wit.

  1. Where did you learn about this amazing set of ads?

It reminds me of a National Geographic documentary I saw a long time ago about cats, which are said to be able to comfort people.
